Key Takeaways
Pay attention to where your hyperbaric chamber is made. Many chambers are made in china, and have numerous structural defects. These chinese chambers are also impossible to get parts for if something does go wrong.
Make sure you have guidance from a hyperbaric practitioner. We recommend purchasing a hyperbaric chamber from a provider (like our doctors at Clarity) who can clear you for safety, build a care plan, and answer any medical questions necessary.
Plan for the future. Do you see yourself using this chamber for 40 dives and then putting it in a closet to gather dust, or are your intentions to utilize it daily. Longevity in Hyperbaric chambers is of utmost importance.
Newtowne Hyperbarics HBOT Chambers
Our first option for portable hyperbaric chambers is Newtowne Hyperbarics. These chambers are the most affordable option of all the chambers we are discussing today. Average cost is between 5,000 and 9,000 dollars. These hyperbaric chambers are made in America, so quality of manufacturing is quite high. If anything ever breaks, you can call their customer service rep. (her name is Marie) and get new parts sent out that day.
Newtowne Hyperbaric Chambers come with a 2 year warranty. We operate 4 Newtowne Hyperbaric chambers at our Des Moines based clinic, and have never had an issue. We have been fortunate to help many people outside of Des Moines through in home hyperbarics, and have never had a problem with any of the chambers we’ve sold.
Newtown Hyperbaric Chambers are exceptionally easy to set up. It is a metal frame that holds open the soft sided chamber held up by chains. The only tool required for set up is a flat head screw driver.
I personally have used a newtowne chamber for 7 years, and have had no issues with it. We operate our clinic at around 20 dives per day, and our chambers perform without a hitch.
All the hyperbaric chambers we will talk about today are all very effective. The concept is simple, add pressure and pump oxygen on the lungs.
Newtowne Hyperbarics products come with a 2 year warranty, but I have never had a chamber need to use it. They do their job well, with extreme safety, all at an affordable price point.
Summit To Sea Hyperbaric Chambers
Summit To Sea chambers are a great option for those looking for hyperbarics at home, but who live outside the US. This is one of the few brands made in the USA that will ship out of the states. We recommend finding a clinic close to you to purchase your summit to sea if you are out of the country.
These chambers have a little more difficult time being set up, but once they are up, they are easy to operate and generally have a large cavity to relax in. Summit to Sea chambers are on the pricier side, with all chambers costing more than 8,000 dollars.
These chambers can be orientated in a laydown style or in a vertical style. This can be great for those looking to sit while they chamber. The downside of a vertical chamber is its cramped feeling. Often upright chambers do feel rather tight, and people can suffer from claustrophobia. Summit to Sea chambers do come with a 2 year warranty, just like Newtowne, but they also have a no questions asked return policy. The summit to sea line of chambers would be my second choice on the list of available options due to its increased cost, and less aesthetic appearance.
OxyHealth Hyperbaric Chambers
Oxyhealth comes in at our most expensive model of HBOT. Oxyhealth has manufactured over 15,000 chambers and retailed them all over the world. They are assembled in America just like Newtowne and Summit To Sea, and are made of medical grade double sided urethane. These Chambers are on the more expensive side, generally ringing up around the $26,000 level, but they are easy on the eyes.
Oxyhealth has put a considerable effort into their marketing and its evident. The chambers are gorgeous, but ultimately, operate the exact same as a Newtowne or a Summit to Sea chamber. The biggest claim to fame that Oxyhealth can present is a internal frame structure.
While these chambers are nice, I simply cannot support the price tag. My patients do amazing in a Newtowne Hyperbaric chamber and I rarely if ever recommend an oxyhealth model, simply due to the cost.
Which Hyperbaric Chamber Should You Choose?
In my opinion, it all comes down to cost, and Newtowne Hyperbarics can simply not be beat when it comes to cost. Summit to Sea and Oxyhealth both make a great product, but I find it impossible to overlook the savings one can acquire with a Newtown Hyperbaric chamber. Contact our office in Des Moines if you have any questions on HBOT, are looking to purchase a chamber, or require further clarification on which model to choose from.
