Our Team
Dr. Walker Porterfield
Dr. Walker’s passion for health started while he was a toddler near Chariton, Iowa. His mother is a chiropractor, so growing up he saw and experienced healing firsthand. As a young boy his knowledge on the human body and nutrition was extensive, along with his passion for holistic approaches to healthcare. Dr. Walker attended Indianola High School, pursed his undergrad degree from Des Moines Area Community College, and like his mother, Dr. Walker attended Palmer College of Chiropractic to receive his doctorate. During his time at Palmer College of Chiropractic, he was a teaching assistant in the cadaver lab, because of his extensive knowledge when it comes to the human body. Dr. Walker also got involved in CrossFit during his time at Palmer College of Chiropractic. This became a huge passion of his, and he can be found in the gym outside of the office. He constantly witnesses athletes from CrossFit and other sports that are limited in what they can do in the gym from old injuries, structural imbalances, or so much pain they cannot manage to make it in anymore. Walker loves working with athletes and seeing their athletic performance and recovery improve. Dr. Walker loves to read (mainly Tom Clancy books), cook exotic meals, and spend time with his wife & two dogs.
Dr. Walker become interested in Hyperbarics after witnessing its powerful effects on a close family member in Des Moines with a skin condition. After seeing miracles happen, he started to research heavily into hyperbarics, and learned all that it can do.
“Hyperbarics work like stem cells. Stem cells are extremely versatile, going to areas where they are needed. Hyperbarics act in the same way. It can help dissolve more oxygen into the blood and bodily fluids, allowing the healing effects to be felt wherever needed.”
Dr. Allison Porterfield
Dr. Allison’s chiropractic journey began when she was in high school in Van Meter, following a neck injury. She had an amazing experience with her chiropractor in Des Moines and a full recovery. Additionally to that, she saw her mother’s quality of life increase tremendously being under chiropractic care at that same Des Moines based office. She started her journey to becoming a chiropractor by taking the pre-medical academic route at the University of Northern Iowa in Waterloo, which lead her to Palmer College of Chiropractic. When Dr. Allison was at Palmer College of Chiropractic, she became Advanced Certified in Torque Release Technique(TRT), then became an advocate for the technique. She studied under numerous doctors who practiced TRT. During this time, she saw miracles happening in the offices and knew it was the technique God was calling her to. In her final months at Palmer College of Chiropractic she exclusively worked with infants, toddlers, and pregnant women. Since then, her love for serving kids has grown tremendously and the NEED to serve pregnant mother’s to support a healthy birth.
Outside of the office, Dr. Allison can be found reading/researching, walking her two doodles, doing CrossFit, running, or meditating. While pregnant, Dr. Allison was focused on finding the best supplements and prenatals out there, and shares her information with the many pregnant women she sees in the office. Dr. Allison is always looking for new ways to improve her patients’ lives and hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a treatment option with mountains of benefits and research behind it.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a great way to improve anyone’s health, but the research showing benefits on traumatic brain injuries, neuropathy, and autism are a few that excite her. She would love to speak with you about the benefits and she’s excited to experience them as well!
Carlee Glenn
Carlee’s positive and empathetic attitude makes her a great addition to our team!
